ingredients are:
One pound of ground beef (or ground beef and pork mixture)
One cup of bread crumbs
Half a cup of milk
Half a cup of finely chopped onion
Two minced garlic cloves
One huge egg
One tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
One teaspoon of salt
Half a teaspoon of black pepper
Half a teaspoon of optional smoked paprika
Half a cup of barbecue sauce (plus more for garnish)
Regarding the Potato Layer:
Four to five medium russet potatoes, carefully sliced and peeled
One cup of milk or heavy cream
Half a cup of shredded cheddar cheese, with extra for garnish
To taste, add salt and pepper.
One teaspoon of powdered garlic
One teaspoon of powdered onion
Directions
Warm up the oven:
Set the oven temperature to 175°C (350°F).
Get the meatloaf ready:
The ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika (if used), and half a cup barbecue sauce should all be combined in a big bowl. Don’t overmix; simply mix until incorporated.
Form the mixture into a loaf and put it in the middle of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish that has been oiled.
Get the potato layer ready:
Combine the heavy cream, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and shredded cheddar cheese in a separate bowl.
In the baking dish, arrange the sliced potatoes over and around the meatloaf. Coat the potatoes thoroughly by pouring the cheese and cream mixture over them.
Include the toppings:
Sprinkle extra shredded cheese on top of the meatloaf and potatoes, and brush the top of the meatloaf with more barbecue sauce.
Bake:
Bake the dish for approximately one hour after covering it with aluminum foil. Take off the foil and continue baking for another 20 to 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are soft and the meatloaf is cooked through (internal temperature should hit 160°F or 70°C).
Chill and serve:
Before cutting the meatloaf into slices, let the casserole cool for ten minutes or so. Warm up and savor your filling dinner!
