Recipe for doughnuts

Components:

Regarding the dough:

  1. Three-quarter cups of all-purpose flour
  2. Half a cup of sugar, granulated
  3. One package (2 1/4 teaspoons) of active dry yeast
  4. Half a teaspoon of salt
  5. Half a cup of warmed whole milk
  6. 1/4 cup of heated water
  7. Two big eggs at room temperature
  8. 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  9. One teaspoon of vanilla extract
  10. Canola or vegetable oil for frying

Regarding the optional Glaze:

  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar powder
  • Two teaspoons of milk
  • One teaspoon of vanilla extract

Directions:

1. Prepare the dough:

  1. Combine the yeast and warm water in a small basin. Wait five to ten minutes for it to start foaming.
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl or with a stand mixer.
  3. To the flour mixture, add the eggs, melted butter, heated milk, yeast mixture, and vanilla essence. Stir until the dough combines.
  4. Using your hands or a dough hook set to medium speed, knead the dough for five to seven minutes, or until it is elastic and smooth.
  5. Place a fresh towel or plastic wrap over the dough and leave it in a warm location to rise for one to two hours, or until it has doubled in size.

2. Cut the doughnuts into shapes:

  • Punch the dough down to release the air once it has risen.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough until it is about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Cut out the doughnuts using a doughnut cutter (or two round cookie cutters, one larger and one smaller). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the doughnuts and doughnut holes on it.
  • After the doughnuts are cut, cover them and leave them for another 30 to 45 minutes, or until they have puffed up.

3. Make the doughnuts fried:

  • In a big saucepan or deep fryer, heat the oil to 350°F (180°C). When frying, make sure there is enough oil for the doughnuts to float.
  • Batch-fry the doughnuts until golden brown, about 1 to 2 minutes per side. To drain extra oil, remove the doughnuts with a slotted spoon and set them on a paper towel-lined platter.

4. Apply the Glaze (if desired):

  • Mix the milk, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar in a medium-sized bowl and whisk until smooth.
  • Place the warm doughnuts on a wire rack to let the extra glaze to drip off after dipping them into it.

5. Offer:

  • Enjoy the doughnuts fresh with your preferred toppings or a basic glaze after letting them cool slightly.

These homemade doughnuts are ideal for any occasion because they are fluffy and soft.
