Recipe for Pecan Pie Bars
Components:
Regarding the crust:
- Two cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of sugar, granulated
- 3/4 cup cold, unsalted butter, cut into cubes, and 1/2 teaspoon salt
- One teaspoon of vanilla cream
- 2–3 tablespoons of ice water (if necessary)
Regarding the filling:
- One cup of light or dark corn syrup
- 3/4 cup of brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup of sugar, granulated
- Four big eggs
- Two tablespoons of melted unsalted butter
- One teaspoon of vanilla cream
- Half a teaspoon of salt
- Two cups of chopped or whole pecans, depending on personal preference
Directions:
1. Get the oven ready:
- Set the oven temperature to 175°C (350°F).
- Use parchment paper to line a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, leaving enough overhang to make removal simple. The pan might also be lightly oiled.
2. Prepare the crust:
- Put the flour, salt, and granulated sugar in a food processor. Pulse in the chilled butter until the mixture takes on the consistency of coarse crumbs.
- Pulse a few times after adding the vanilla extract.
- One tablespoon at a time, add the ice water, and pulse until the dough starts to come together. You might need to add two or three teaspoons.
- To create the crust, uniformly press the dough into the bottom of the baking dish that has been prepared. Smooth it out with the back of a spoon.
- The crust should be softly brown after 12 to 15 minutes of baking in a preheated oven.
3. Get the filling ready:
- Make the filling while the crust bakes. The corn syrup, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt should all be added and whisked until smooth in a large basin.
- Depending on your choice, stir in the chopped or whole pecans.
4. Put the Bars Together:
- Take the crust out of the oven and allow it to cool a little once it has finished baking.
Cover the warm crust with an equal layer of the pecan filling. - Bake until the filling is brown and firm, another 25 to 30 minutes. Although the syrup will make it sticky, a toothpick placed in the center should come out clean.
5. Allow to cool before serving:
- Place the bars on a wire rack in the pan and let them cool fully. Using the overhanging parchment paper, remove the bars from the pan once they have cooled.
- Slice into bars or squares and serve.
