Recipe for Spiced Butter Corn
Components:
- Four cups of corn kernels, either canned, frozen, or fresh
- Two tablespoons of butter without salt
- One tablespoon of optional olive oil
- One teaspoon of chili powder (or more, depending on taste)
- Half a teaspoon of paprika
- Half a teaspoon of powdered garlic
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- To taste, add salt.
- One tablespoon of fresh lime juice (for tang, if desired)
- Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro, if desired.
- Grated Parmesan cheese (for added flavor, optional)
Directions:
Prepare the corn:
- Remove the husks and boil the corn in salted water for 5 to 7 minutes if you’re using fresh corn. You can also grill it for a smoky flavor. If using frozen corn, sauté it in a skillet with a little water until heated through, or thaw and drain it.
- Just drain and rinse canned corn.
Prepare the Spiced Butter:
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. To add even more richness, you can also use olive oil.
- Add the salt, black pepper, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, and chili powder. To let the spices to bloom and become fragrant, stir for 30 seconds.
Mix the corn with the spiced butter.
- In the skillet with the seasoned butter, add the cooked corn. Toss to ensure even coating.
- To make sure the corn is well seasoned, cook it for a further three to five minutes, stirring now and then.
Complete the Dish:
- For a zesty twist, squeeze some fresh lime juice over the corn and, if you’d like, sprinkle some fresh parsley or cilantro on top.
- For added taste, feel free to top with grated Parmesan cheese.
Serve and Savor:
- Warm up and serve as a side dish or snack. You may eat this spicy butter corn on its own or with salads and grilled meats.
Savor your spicy, delicious butter corn!
