Roasted Chickpeas in an Air Fryer
Crispy air-fried chickpeas are a whole new level of healthful snacking. With just six ingredients, this crispy and spicy chickpea recipe is a naturally gluten-free and vegan snack that can be prepared in less than 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- Two 15-ounce cans or three cups of cooked chickpeas [Refer to the notes]
- Two teaspoons of avocado or olive oil
- One teaspoon of masala chaat
- 1.5 teaspoons of amchur, or dry mango powder
- One teaspoon of mild chilli powder, such as Kashmiri chilli powder
- One teaspoon of salt, or more if necessary
Directions
- After the chickpeas are cooked, drain the water. Throw away any skin.
- Pat it dry with a cloth or paper towel.
- In your air fryer, set the temperature to 400°F.
- Set the air fryer for ten minutes after adding the chickpeas.
- To ensure that the chickpeas are cooked through, toss them when the allotted time has passed.
- After setting the timer for ten minutes, keep cooking until the allotted time has passed.
- While the chickpeas are cooking, mix the spices (chaat masala, amchur powder, chili powder, and salt) with the oil in a big bowl.
- Once the frying process is finished, toss the hot chickpeas in the spice mixture and oil until they are well covered.
- For three more minutes, air fried the chickpeas at 400°F.
- To cool, move it to a platter. After cooling, keep it in a glass container in a cold, dark location for approximately three to four days.
Observations
- I like to use a pressure cooker to cook dried chickpeas. A 15-ounce can of chickpeas can also be used. Before using, drain and rinse the chickpeas to remove any remaining salt and preservatives.
- Use a paper towel or cloth to squeeze out as much water as possible from the chickpeas before air-frying them.
- To get the chickpeas crunchy, you might need to extend the cooking time because air fryers differ. It usually takes 20 to 25 minutes to cook.
- Cook the chickpeas in the air fryer for approximately five minutes at 400°F if they lose their crunchiness after a few days.
- In order to keep the spice powders from burning when cooking for more than 20 minutes, I add them in the final five minutes.
Differences
- Although it will stain your fingers while you eat the chickpeas, you can add a teaspoon of turmeric powder to give it a nutritional boost.
- You can add garam masala or a teaspoon of cumin powder to spice it up.
