1 tsp Dijon mustard

½ tsp onion powder

2 lbs (900g) potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet), peeled and chopped

4 cloves garlic, peeled

Prepare the Salisbury Steak Patties:

In a bowl, mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Form into 4 oval patties.

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Sear patties for 3–4 minutes per side until browned (they’ll finish cooking in gravy).

Remove from pan and set aside.

Make the Mushroom & Onion Gravy:

In the same pan, add butter and olive oil.

Sauté onions for 2 minutes, then add mushrooms. Cook until browned (5–7 minutes).

Sprinkle flour over veggies, stir and cook for 1 minute.

Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any brown bits.

Bring to a simmer. Season with salt, pepper, and optional thyme or cream.

Add patties back into the gravy, cover, and simmer for 10–12 minutes until patties are fully cooked and sauce thickens.

 To Serve:

Scoop a generous mound of garlic mashed potatoes on each plate. Top with a Salisbury steak patty and ladle over the rich mushroom-onion gravy.

 Optional Add-Ons:

Add steamed green beans or roasted carrots on the side for a complete plate.

Swap potatoes with garlic cauliflower mash for a lighter version.
