1 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

For the Mushroom & Onion Gravy:

1 tbsp olive oil

1 small onion, thinly sliced

1 cup mushrooms, sliced (white or cremini)

1 tbsp flour

2 cups beef broth (low sodium preferred)

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt & pepper to taste

Optional: splash of cream or dash of thyme for extra depth

For the Garlic Mashed Potatoes:

2 lbs (900g) potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet), peeled and chopped

4 cloves garlic, peeled

½ cup milk (warm)

¼ cup unsalted butter

Salt & pepper to taste

Optional: splash of cream or sour cream for creamier texture

  •  Instructions:
  • Make the Garlic Mashed Potatoes:
  • In a large pot, add potatoes and garlic cloves, cover with cold salted water.
  • Bring to a boil and cook until tender (12–15 minutes).
  • Drain and mash with butter, warm milk, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix until smooth. Keep warm.
  • Prepare the Salisbury Steak Patties:

  • Form into 4 oval patties.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sear patties for 3–4 minutes per side until browned (they’ll finish cooking in gravy).
  • Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Make the Mushroom & Onion Gravy:
  • In the same pan, add butter and olive oil.
  • Sauté onions for 2 minutes, then add mushrooms. Cook until browned (5–7 minutes).

  • Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any brown bits.
  • Bring to a simmer. Season with salt, pepper, and optional thyme or cream.
  • Add patties back into the gravy, cover, and simmer for 10–12 minutes until patties are fully cooked and sauce thickens.
  •  To Serve:

  •  Optional Add-Ons:
  • Add steamed green beans or roasted carrots on the side for a complete plate.
