Popular in many parts of the world, especially in the UK and Australia, they are perfect for parties, picnics, or a comforting homemade treat. Baking them at home is surprisingly easy—you can use store-bought puff pastry for convenience and customize the filling with herbs and spices. Paired with a sweet and tangy honey mustard dipping sauce, these sausage rolls are guaranteed to be crowd-pleasers.

Place sausage mixture in a long log down the center of each strip.

Roll and Cut

Brush one edge of the pastry strip with beaten egg.

Fold the pastry over the sausage, pressing the edges to seal tightly.

Cut each long roll into 6–7 mini rolls.

Place them seam-side down on a lined baking tray.

Bake

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Brush the tops of rolls with beaten egg.

Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds if desired.

Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.

Make the Honey Mustard Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, honey, mayonnaise, and vinegar/lemon juice until smooth.

Taste and adjust sweetness or tanginess as preferred.

Serve

Let sausage rolls cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Serve warm with the honey mustard dipping sauce on the side.

Tips

For a spicier kick, add chili flakes or cayenne pepper to the sausage filling.

You can swap pork sausage for chicken or turkey sausage for a leaner option.

These rolls can be made ahead and frozen (before baking)—just bake directly from frozen, adding 5 extra minutes.
