Ingredients

For the beef mixture:

1 tbsp olive oil

1 small onion, diced

2 garlic cloves, minced

450g (1 lb) ground beef

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tbsp tomato paste

½ cup crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional for richness)

For the cabbage layer:

½ head green cabbage, chopped (about 4 cups)

Salt to taste

1 tsp olive oil

¼ cup water

Topping:

1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese

2 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional)

Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Pre-Cook the Cabbage

In a large skillet or pot, heat 1 tsp olive oil.

Add chopped cabbage and a pinch of salt. Sauté for 4–5 minutes.

Add ¼ cup water, cover, and steam on medium heat for another 5 minutes until just tender.

Drain and set aside.

 Prepare the Beef Filling

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan. Add diced onion and cook until translucent.

Add minced garlic and sauté 30 seconds.

Add ground beef, breaking it up, and cook until browned (about 6–8 minutes).

Stir in salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, and Worcestershire (if using).

Mix in tomato paste and crushed tomatoes. Simmer 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

 Assemble the Bake

In a lightly greased oven-safe baking dish or foil tray that fits your air fryer:

Layer the cooked cabbage on the bottom.

Spread the beef mixture evenly over the cabbage.

Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.

Add Parmesan if using.

 Air Fry

Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.

Place the dish in the basket.

Air fry at 350°F for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

If needed, cover loosely with foil for the first 10 minutes to prevent cheese from over-browning.

 Optional Add-Ins

Add cooked rice or cauliflower rice under the cabbage for a fuller casserole.

Toss in some red pepper flakes for heat.

Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.

 To Serve

Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with a side salad or crusty bread.
