Shrimp with Garlic
Ingredients
- One pound of large, deveined and peeled shrimp
- Four tablespoons of unsalted butter or olive oil
- Four minced garlic cloves
- Half a teaspoon of optional red pepper flakes (for heat)
- To taste, add salt and pepper.
- One tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
- One tablespoon of freshly chopped parsley (for garnish)
- slices of lemon (for serving)
Directions
- Heat the Oil: Put the butter or olive oil in a big skillet and heat it to a medium temperature.
- Cook the Garlic: Put the red pepper flakes (if using) and minced garlic in the skillet. Take care not to burn the garlic while you sauté it for approximately a minute, or until fragrant.
- Add the Shrimp: Arrange the shrimp in a single layer in the skillet. Add salt and pepper for seasoning. Cook until pink, 2 to 3 minutes on one side.
- Flip the Shrimp: Cook the shrimp for a further two to three minutes, or until they are opaque and cooked through.
- Lemon Finish: Turn off the heat and add the lemon juice to the skillet. If necessary, taste and adjust the seasoning.
- Garnish and Serve: Serve right away with lemon wedges on the side and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
Advice:
- Serve with crusty bread to mop up the flavorful garlic sauce, or over rice or pasta.
- For added color and nutrients, include vegetables like spinach or cherry tomatoes!
