Simple and enticing spinach-filled pastry
Ingredients
Regarding the filling:
- One cup of thawed and drained frozen spinach or two cups of fresh spinach
- Ricotta cheese, one cup
- Half a cup of crumbled feta cheese
- 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
- One minced garlic clove
- To taste, add salt and pepper.
- One egg (for binding, if desired)
Regarding the pastry:
- One packet of puff pastry (if frozen, thawed)
- One egg for the egg wash
Directions
Get the filler ready:
- Add the spinach, feta, Parmesan, ricotta, garlic, salt, pepper, and optional egg to a mixing bowl. Stir until thoroughly blended.
Warm up the oven:
- Set the oven temperature to 400°F, or 200°C.
Get the pastry ready:
- On a surface dusted with flour, roll out the puff pastry. Cut into approximately 4×4-inch squares.
Stuff the pastries:
- Put a dollop of the spinach filling in the middle of each square of dough. To create a triangle or rectangle, fold the corners over and seal the edges with a fork or by pressing them together.
Washing eggs:
- For a golden finish, beat the egg and brush it over the top of each pastry.
Bake:
- Put the pastries on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and bake them for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
Serve:
- Before serving, allow it cool somewhat. Savor them warm!
