4 servings
Ingredients
4 potatoes
Four big eggs
Half a cup of mayonnaise
½ stalk sliced celery
¼ cup of sugary relish
One minced garlic clove
Two tsp prepared mustard
To taste, add salt and pepper.
Instructions:
Heat a big saucepan of salted water till it boils. Add potatoes and simmer for approximately 15 minutes, or until firm yet tender; then, drain and chop.
In the meantime, put the eggs in a pot and pour cold water over them. Once the water reaches a boil, cover it, turn off the heat, and let the eggs sit in the hot water for ten to twelve minutes. Take out of the hot water and chop and peel.
In a large bowl, mix together cooked potatoes, eggs, mayonnaise, celery, relish, garlic, mustard, salt, and pepper.
Mix together gently and serve warm.
Which Potatoes Are Ideal For Usage and other tips?
I enjoy using russet potatoes the most. I adore the creamy smoothness of a potato salad made using russetts, but they can get a little crumbly. Red potatoes or Yukon Gold potatoes can be substituted, although the texture will alter.
I use normal russet potatoes as the base for my potato salad. To speed up the cooking process, I cut any large ones in half and wait to peel them until they are cooked through. After that, removing the skin with a knife is quite simple.
I start by using a lot of mayonnaise—ideally Duke’s mayonnaise—for the dressing. Add plenty of yellow mustard as well. It enhances the flavour significantly. I also enhance the flavours by adding a small amount of apple cider vinegar.
A tonne of hard-boiled eggs, a couple of teaspoons of sugar, sweet pickle relish, sweet onions, and some celery for crunch. I like to add a little paprika on top to finish it off.
For at least a few hours, let it cool after wrapping it in plastic wrap. You can now grill some burgers or barbecue chicken to pair with this delicious meal.
Recipe Advice:
Before adding the potatoes to the other ingredients, make sure you thoroughly drain them.
Nothing compares to a dish of traditional southern potato salad. Everyone should have a go-to recipe for potato salad on hand. While variations abound, Southern-style potato salads are typically thick, heavily mayoed, and mildly mustard-flavoured.
