Spinach Quiche Recipe
Components:
Regarding the crust:
- One pie crust, either homemade or premade if desired
Regarding the filling:
- One tablespoon of butter or olive oil
- One medium onion, cut finely
- Two minced garlic cloves
- Four cups of fresh spinach (or one bag of thawed and drained frozen spinach)
- Half a cup of shredded cheddar cheese, or any other type of cheese you choose
- Half a cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
- Half a cup of milk (for a richer filling, use heavy cream)
- Three huge eggs
- One-fourth teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional; enhances flavor)
- To taste, add salt and pepper.
- Half a teaspoon of optional dried thyme
Directions:
1.prepare the pie crust.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) in order
If you’re using a store-bought pie crust, prebake it according to the directions on the package (it normally takes 10 to 12 minutes to set). Roll out your homemade crust and transfer it to a 9-inch pie plate. To keep it from becoming mushy, you can prebake it for five to seven minutes.
2. Prepare the Spinach Filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, warm the butter or olive oil. Cook the chopped onion for three to four minutes, or until it becomes tender.
Cook the garlic for an additional 30 seconds, or until it becomes aromatic.
Fill the skillet with either fresh spinach or frozen spinach that has been thawed and drained. Cook, stirring periodically, until the spinach has wilted and any extra liquid has gone, about 4–5 minutes. Add salt, pepper, and a dash of nutmeg for seasoning.
After taking the skillet off of the burner, allow it to cool a little.
3. Prepare the Quiche Filling: Beat the eggs, milk (or cream), dried thyme (if using), and a dash of salt and pepper in a medium bowl.
Add the grated Parmesan cheese and the shredded cheddar cheese and stir.
Stir to incorporate the cooked spinach mixture into the egg mixture.
4. Put the Quiche Together and Bake It: Fill the pie crust that has already been prepared with the egg mixture and spinach.
Spread the filling evenly using a spatula.
A knife put into the center of the quiche should come out clean after 35 to 40 minutes of baking in a preheated oven, or until the top is faintly brown.
5. Cool and Serve: Before slicing, let the quiche cool for ten or so minutes. The filling can correctly set as a result.
Warm or room temperature, serve. Any leftovers can also be stored in the refrigerator for subsequent reheating.
Advice: You can add cooked sausage or crumbled bacon to the spinach combination to add more flavor.
Depending on your taste, you can use feta, goat cheese, Gruyère, or other cheeses.
To prevent a mushy quiche when using frozen spinach, be sure to wring out any extra liquid.
