Steak in an Air Fryer
Components:
- Two sirloin or ribeye steaks, each 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick
- One tablespoon of olive oil
- One teaspoon of kosher salt
- Half a teaspoon of black pepper
- Half a teaspoon of powdered garlic
- Half a teaspoon of onion powder
- Half a teaspoon of optional smoked paprika
- Fresh herbs, such as thyme or rosemary, can be used as garnish.
- (Optional for serving) Butter
Directions:
Warm up the air fryer.
- For around five minutes, preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). This guarantees even cooking of the steaks.
Get the steaks ready:
- Using paper towels, pat the steaks dry to eliminate any remaining moisture.
Apply olive oil to each steak on both sides.
- Combine the salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika (if using) in a small bowl.
- Evenly rub the steaks on both sides with the spice mixture.
Prepare the steaks:
- In the basket of the air fryer, arrange the steaks in a single layer. To prevent crowding, cook the steaks in batches if necessary.
- The steaks should be air-fried for 8 to 12 minutes, with a turn halfway through. Your desired level of doneness will determine the precise time:
- Medium-Rare: internal temperature of 130–135°F (54–57°C), approximately 8–9 minutes
- Medium: internal temperature of 140–145°F (60–63°C), 10–11 minutes
- Medium-Well: internal temperature of 150–155°F (65–68°C), approximately 12–13 minutes
Let the steaks rest:
- After taking the steaks out of the air fryer, give them five minutes to rest. This enables the meat’s fluids to re-distribute.
Serve:
- If preferred, sprinkle the steaks with fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary and serve them with a pat of butter.
- Serve alongside your preferred sides, like a crisp salad, mashed potatoes, or roasted veggies.
Note: If you want a nicely cooked steak with a lovely crust, cooking it in an air fryer is a quick and simple method. Enjoy a juicy, tender steak without using a cooktop or grill by adjusting the spice to your preference.
