Stuffed Mashed Potato Nests (Air Fryer Recipe)
Introduction
Stuffed Mashed Potato Nests are a creative twist on mashed potatoes—shaped into cute little nests, air-fried to a golden crisp, and filled with a savory stuffing (like cheese, veggies, or meat). This recipe gives you all the textures: creamy mashed potatoes, crispy edges, and a warm, melty center. Best part? No deep frying—just your air fryer.
Prep Time: 25 minutes
Cook Time: 15–18 minutes (per batch)
Total Time: ~45 minutes
Ingredients (Makes 6–8 nests)
For the Potato Mixture:
3 large potatoes, peeled and boiled
2 tbsp butter
¼ cup milk or cream
½ tsp garlic powder
Salt & pepper to taste
¼ cup grated Parmesan or mozzarella
1 egg yolk (for binding)
For the Filling (Choose One or Mix):
½ cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, etc.)
¼ cup sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers
¼ cup shredded chicken or cooked bacon
Optional: green onions, jalapeños, corn
For Coating (Optional):
¼ cup breadcrumbs (for extra crisp)
Cooking spray or light oil
Instructions
Prepare the Mashed Potatoes
Boil the potatoes until fork-tender.
Drain and mash with butter, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Mix in cheese and egg yolk. Let it cool slightly until it’s moldable.
Form the Nests
Take a scoop of mashed potato (about ¼ cup).
Roll into a ball and press your thumb in the center to form a nest shape (a small bowl).
Place each nest on a parchment-lined tray or plate.
Fill the center with your stuffing of choice (cheese + veggies/meat).
Air Fry
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
Lightly spray or brush the nests with oil. Optional: sprinkle breadcrumbs for crunch.
Place nests in the air fryer basket (don’t overcrowd).
Cook for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown and crisp on the outside.
Let cool for 2–3 minutes before serving.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with sour cream, marinara, ranch, or sriracha mayo.
Garnish with chives, parsley, or extra cheese.
