Tacos with ground beef
Ingredients
- One pound of ground beef
- One little onion, diced finely
- Two minced garlic cloves
- One taco seasoning packet (or make your own)
- Two-thirds cup of water
- To taste, add salt and pepper.
- tortillas or taco shells (soft or firm)
- Extra toppings are optional.
- Shredded lettuce
- Tomato dice
- Shredded cheese, either Mexican blend or cheddar
- Sour cream
- Salsa
- Guacamole or avocado
- Chopped cilantro
Directions
Prepare the beef:
- Ground beef and diced onion should be added to a large skillet over medium heat. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the beef is browned and the onions are tender. Drain any extra fat.
Add the seasoning and garlic:
- Stir the taco spice and minced garlic into the meat mixture for approximately one minute, or until aromatic.
Pour in some water:
- Bring to a simmer after adding the water. Lower the heat and cook, stirring periodically, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 5 minutes. If necessary, taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper.
Get the taco shells ready:
- As the steak cooks, reheat the tortillas or taco shells according the directions on the package.
Put Tacos Together:
- Fill each taco shell with the spiced meat mixture using a spoon. Add your preferred toppings on top.
Serve:
- Serve right away, accompanied with additional toppings!
Advice:
- Try using lean ground chicken or turkey for a healthier choice.
A pinch of salt, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, and cumin can be combined to create your own homemade spice.
