THE BEST Brussels Sprouts in an Air Fryer
The leaves of Brussels sprouts become brittle and deliciously crunchy, making them perhaps the greatest vegetable you can cook in an air fryer. They are served here with slivers of garlic, which, when they cook, become spicy golden chips. After that, the entire dish is dressed with a mixture of thickened balsamic vinegar, lime juice for freshness, and soy sauce for richness. Keep plenty of napkins on hand and serve this as a snack with drinks or as a side dish.
It’s Time
- Five minutes for preparation
- 20-Minute Cooking Time
- Twenty-five minutes in total
Ingredients
- Trim and cut the stems of one pound of Brussels sprouts in half (cut the larger ones in quarters).
- An additional tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
- A kosher salt teaspoon
- Two cloves of garlic, finely sliced
- Half a cup of balsamic acid
- One teaspoon of freshly squeezed lime juice, with enough to serve
- Half a teaspoon of soy sauce
Directions
- If preheating is required, preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees.
- Put the Brussels sprouts in the basket of the air fryer and sprinkle them with salt and 1 tablespoon of oil. Shake the basket or stir the sprouts midway through the 15 minutes of cooking.
- Add garlic to the sprouts. Fry for a further 2 to 4 minutes, or until the garlic is golden brown.
- In the meantime, simmer the balsamic vinegar in a small pot. Simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes, increasing the heat as needed to avoid burning, until the mixture is thickened and beginning to look syrupy. (Watch it carefully; it will soon go from reduced to scorched.) Take off the heat and mix in the soy sauce, lime juice, and two tablespoons of oil.
- Pour the balsamic dressing over the Brussels sprouts after transferring them to a serving plate. To taste, squeeze extra lime juice over the top.
- Note: Before air-frying, cook the Brussels sprouts in the microwave for a few minutes with a cup of water. This trick will make it incredibly soft and sensitive. Have fun.
