Whipped Feta with Honey and Pistachios Recipe
A trip to Turkey inspired this luxurious appetizer that transforms my dinner parties from ordinary to extraordinary. Each creamy bite takes me back to those magical evenings in Istanbul.
Ingredients:
For the whipped feta:
– 8 oz feta cheese, room temperature
– 4 oz cream cheese, softened
– 2 tablespoons heavy cream
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
For the topping:
– 1/3 cup honey
– 1/2 cup pistachios, roughly chopped
– 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (parsley or mint), finely chopped
– Flaky sea salt, to taste
– Fresh cracked black pepper
– Extra virgin olive oil (optional drizzle)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the feta:
– Crumble feta into chunks
– Place in food processor
– Add cream cheese and heavy cream
– Process until smooth and creamy
2. Season the mixture:
– Add black pepper and garlic if using
– Pulse to combine
– Taste and adjust seasoning
3. Plate the dish:
– Spread whipped feta on serving plate
– Create swirls with back of spoon
– Make small wells for honey
4. Add toppings:
– Drizzle honey into wells
– Sprinkle chopped pistachios
– Add fresh herbs
– Season with flaky salt and pepper
– Drizzle with olive oil if desired
5. Serve:
– Serve immediately with warm pita, crackers, or bread
– Can be made ahead and topped just before serving
