Air Fryer Sesame Chicken
INGREDIENTS:
Sauce Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce.
- 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 1 teaspoon of orange zest.
- 5 teaspoons of Hoisin sauce.
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger.
- 1 teaspoon of minced garlic.
- 1 tablespoon of cold water.
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds.
Chicken Ingredients:
- 1 pound chicken thighs boneless and skinless
- 1/3 cup cornstarch.
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil spray.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Cut the chicken into cubes and mix in a large bowl with cornstarch to coat evenly.
- Preheat the air fryer to 390ºF.
- Place the chicken in the preheated air fryer basket.
- Air fried the chicken for 24 minutes, or until golden brown, flipping halfway through. After tossing the chicken, spray it with oil.
- In a small saucepan, combine the sesame chicken sauce ingredients and whisk over medium heat until the sauce reaches a small boil.
- Once the sugar has completely dissolved, add the cornstarch and water. Allow the sauce to thicken for approximately 5 minutes. Continue to whisk.
Mix in the sesame seeds.
- Remove from the fire and let it sit for 5 minutes to thicken further.
- Place the chicken in a medium-sized mixing bowl and cover with the sauce. Toss the chicken to coat each piece with sauce.
- Serve over rice and garnished with green onion.
NOTES:
- Flour is an excellent alternative for maize starch because it already contains starch.
- However, take in mind that you will use twice as much flour as cornstarch to make
