Baked Potato Recipe

This recipe creates perfectly baked potatoes with fluffy insides and crisp skins.


  • 4 Russet potatoes (medium size)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt


  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Scrub the potatoes clean with running water and pat them dry with a paper towel
  3. Use a fork to prick each potato several times all over.
  4. Rub the potatoes with olive oil and sprinkle generously with kosher salt. You can also add black pepper or garlic powder for extra flavor at this point.
  5. Place the potatoes directly on a baking sheet or on a wire rack set over a baking sheet (this allows for more even cooking).
  6. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork and the skins are crisp.
  7. Remove the potatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before cutting them open.
  8. Fluff the inside of the potato with a fork and serve with your favorite toppings.
