Country Fried Steak in an Air Fryer with Homemade Gravy
Components
Regarding the steaks:
- One cup of all-purpose flour and four cubed steaks
- Two teaspoons of powdered garlic
- One teaspoon of powdered onion
- One teaspoon of paprika smoked
- One teaspoon of salt
- One-sixth teaspoon of black pepper
- Half a cup of buttermilk
- One huge egg
- One teaspoon of hot sauce is optional, but it’s a great way to enhance flavour! I made advantage of Louisiana.
Regarding the gravy
- Four teaspoons of salted butter
- A quarter cup of all-purpose flour
- Two cups of whole milk
- -black pepper and salt, to taste
How to proceed:
- Turn the air fryer on to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Mix the flour, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a shallow basin.
- Whisk the egg, buttermilk, and spicy sauce (if using) in a different shallow bowl.
- Dredge each steak in the buttermilk mixture after dipping it in the flour mixture, making careful to coat it well and shaking off any leftover flour.
- Put about two steaks in the basket (don’t pack them up too tightly) and mist with olive oil spray. Cook for another 6 to 8 minutes after flipping and spraying. Watch them closely!
Preparing the gravy
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Then mix in the melted butter and flour. To get rid of any lumps, whisk really thoroughly.
- To eliminate the taste of raw flour, cook for approximately three minutes, whisking occasionally to prevent burning.
- Whisk as you gradually add the milk, about half a cup at a time. Continue doing this in batches until all of the milk has been used. Whisking while cooking, simmer the gravy for approximately five to seven minutes until it thickens.
- Add salt and pepper to the gravy, tasting as you go to ensure the gravy is the right amount of seasoning. After taking off the heat, serve
